India-origin Rishi Sunak is now the PM of
the United Kingdom. He replaces his rival Liz Truss after winning in the voting
poll against the Penny Mordaunt. After his win, Joe Biden – the president of
the United States congratulates him.
Mr. Rishi will be taking the office as the 3rd prime minister of the Conservative. On Monday in his speech (it took the place behind doors), he said that this was going to be a tough period and ruled out an early general election.
According to some team members, Mr. Sunak clear that everyone should unite or die. He also asked the members to focus on the priorities of the public. In the TV interviews, newly elected PM said that I promised to serve with "integrity". Further he added I am thankful to the outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss for leading the country during exceptionally difficult circumstances.
He also said that the United Kingdom is a great country but there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge," he said. "We now need stability and unity and I will make it my utmost priority to bring our party and our country together.
When we talk about the voting, his leadership rival Ms. Mordount took her name back right before the contest by saying that it is clear that all our colleagues feel we need certainty today. By conveying her support to Mr. Rishi she said that this decision is an historic one and shows, once again, the diversity and talent of our party.
Before Ms. Mordaunt, previous Prime
Minister Mr. Johnson Boris also withdrew his name from the contest. That time
he said that I am having enough support to stand but I feel that it is not the
right time to do so.
Before being elected as a Prime Minister, Mr. Sunak was a chancellor in the government of Mr. Johnson during the crisis of COVID-19. However, he left his position when the government was trapped in the scandals.
Besides, Mr. Sunak has his constituency in North Yorkshire’s Richmond. He has also worked in the finance team as well. This is such a proud moment for India that a person who is originated from its land is now going to handle the top position of one of the super powers of this world.
