Ahead of the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections, the
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has got a boost on Sunday as they retained their 3
spots in 7 assembly constituencies of 3 different states – Uttar Pradesh,
Odisha, and Bihar.
The most excited contest was on the Munugode seat in Telengana. Here, an MLA of Congress Mr. K Raj Gopal Reddy resigned from his position and joined the BJP. This step forced the by-poll and triggered a solid showdown between the BJP and the ruling part Telengana Rashtra Samithi (Bharat Rashtra Samithi). Even though the BJP has an initial fright, K Prabhakar Reddy of TRS successfully retained his seat.
When it comes to the Congress, it was completely wiped out as its candidate – Palvai Sravanthi Reddy failed to save her deposits. Before this, the Bharat Jodo Yatra by Rahul Gandhi in Telegana has claimed to have a huge support from the people in the state. However, Congress’ wipe out has given the party to rethink and re-plan things for its betterment.
The whole counting season was filled with so many ups and downs. It is the 5th round when the TRS actually started pulling the game ahead. When the counting ends, the tally has the TRS on the top with 97006 votes, the BJP on the second spot with 86697, and Congress was on the last spot with only 23906 votes.
The BJP has lost 2 out of 3 by-polls in the last couple of years. Hence, the TRS will feel relief with the win in the Munugode. However, the top leaders of the TRS know that they cannot make a mistake by taking the BJP lightly in this state. To win, the TRS has created a solid plan in which it has deployed around 55-60 MLAs and 14 ministers of the state to cover this by-poll and let people understand the National Role Model schemes.
The result of by-poll in Maharashtra was quite an obvious as the candidate of the Shiv Sena-Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party – Rutuja Latke won with a huge margin in the Andheri East. She grabbed around 77% of the total votes. However, this election was filled with 14.8% (12806) votes of NOTA (None of the above).
Another high-profile by-poll contest was seen in Haryana, Bihar, and Odisha. These elections were full of drama and chaos. However, the BJP has shown its smart moves one more time and seized its position. All these results have forced other parties to think again and plan in a better way to throw the BJP out of the ‘election’ contest.
