The capital city New Delhi shocked after coming across a horror love story. Started in 2019 near Mumbai, the love story ended in an expected way in Delhi where a 28 years old guy strangled and chopped the body in 35 pieces of his 27 years old live-in partner. He spent more than 2-3 months just to dump the parts in the forest area of Mehraulli, New Delhi.
The police have arrested the main accused Aftab Poonawala and identified Shraddha Walker as the victim. Both, the boy and the girl belong to Palghar district of Maharashta. After working in Malad, they shifted to Delhi in 14-15 May 2022 only.
According to the reports and details shared by the police, the accused killed his partner on 18th May. Aftab told the police that he saw the US TV series named Dexter to do this monstrous crime.
The police said that Shraddha used to live with her mother and a younger brother before moving with Poonawala. Her parents used to live separately. Since her father was not happy with Shraddha’s relationship with Aftab, he was not in her touch. But after knowing that her phone is off and she has no contact with any of her friends, he filed a missing complaint on 6th October in Vasai.
After 6 days, the Manikpur
police started its investigation by starting interrogating Poonawala. In the
beginning, he was making lame excuses and trying to fool the police but after
questioning strictly, he revealed the most horror story ever.
Assistance Inspector – Sachin Sanap said that during questioning, we confronted him with our findings, after which he broke down. Ankit Chauhan, the additional DCP of South Delhi also added that during the course of sustained interrogation, Aaftab disclosed that he and the deceased were in a live-in relationship since 2019. They had met each other through a dating app, and had frequent fights. They had visited hill stations in March and April, and thereafter decided to stay in Delhi. On the day of the incident, the accused strangulated the deceased, cut the body into many parts and disposed of them over a long period.
The police have also confirmed that the families of this couple were not happy with their relationship. In the FIR filed by the Shraddha’s father, it is stated that my daughter told my wife in 2019 that she wants to be in a live-in relationship with Aaftab Poonawala. My wife and I told her not do because I am Hindu and that boy is Muslim. We don’t do inter-religion/inter-caste marriage.
As per the police officials, the boy said that us they often got into heated arguments. In May, they again fought, and he strangled her. After this, he chopped her body into 35 pieces and dumped the same on a regular basis by making multiple trips. Poonawala also informed the police that he was using incense sticks or room fresheners for removing the stench.
An officer of the Delhi Police also said that we have recovered evidence from his possession in connection with the murder. He has confessed to the crime. We are questioning him further and trying to recover the body parts.
